Maintenance

INTERIOR:

1. Fresh water and a clean mop will be enough to keep your floors clean and looking great. Don’t use detergents, for they will cloud the sealer. Keeping the floor clean on a daily basis is best accomplished by using a dust mop.

2. DO NOT clean the floor using abrasive cleaners or chemicals that contain mineral spirits such as paint thinners or petroleum products. Do not use a “Swiffer” as this mop contains a chemical.

3. It is recommended to apply three or four thin coats of water-based finish once every 3-4 months, for the first year and as desired after the initial year. (You can get this at Home Depot: ZEP floor finish step #3). Follow the directions on the container. Re-finishing will depend on traffic and wear.

4. DO NOT apply any type of tape to a sealed or waxed surface. The acid in the adhesive may lift the sealer off the stain.

EXTERIOR:

Do not use waxes on exterior surfaces. The surface may become a slip hazard. On exterior stain surfaces, a garden hose and brush should remove most dirt and grime. Stubborn spots can be cleaned with dilute Simple Green and rinsed with fresh water.
